Most of the time, one does not have an opportunity to help find their own replacement. I’m currently in this position where I’m working part time for my outgoing company to help transition them to a new HR Specialist. I’ve had the unique opportunity to run the search for my replacement. I’m torn between wanting to phase out and also wanting the right person to step in and continue the progress I saw and helped facilitate. Of course, the additional pay is a nice bonus.
If you had this opportunity, would you do it? What stipulations or timelines would you impose? Would you do it in any position or just certain ones?
