It depends on the situation, but if I paid extra for a specific seat, I’d be hesitant to give it up—especially if I chose it for comfort, convenience, or a better experience. If someone genuinely needed the seat for a legitimate reason (medical issues, traveling with family, etc.), I might consider it, but only if:
They were polite about it – A genuine request is one thing, but entitlement or guilt-tripping would be a hard no.
I wasn’t giving up a major benefit – If I paid for extra legroom, priority boarding, or first-class perks, I’d probably decline.
The airline/train staff could accommodate – If they were truly in need, the airline or train company should step in rather than expect me to take a downgrade.
