Racism in Writing Hiring

Not trying to be a crybaby here, but it seems like people in many countries, often outside the west, are so racist that when they see someone who isn't blonde/brunette haired and blue-eyed, they won't hire them - even if their location is USA, or maybe they suspect the person is lying.

Anyway, in South Korea, it's so racist that the more non-blonde you are, the less chance of a teaching job (in ESL)! And this is true, even if it's a native speaker who has citizenship of an English speaking nation.

That’s a really unfortunate reality in some parts of the world, and hiring discrimination based on appearance rather than qualifications is both unfair and frustrating. While many countries have anti-discrimination laws, biases—whether conscious or systemic—still exist, particularly in industries like ESL teaching, corporate hiring, and media representation.

In places like South Korea, Japan, and some other countries, the preference for a certain "look" in ESL hiring is well-documented, and unfortunately, it often prioritizes outdated and inaccurate stereotypes over actual teaching ability. It’s not just about fluency or citizenship—some schools and employers prioritize image over merit, which makes it even harder for skilled professionals to break through.

At Forum-Promotion.NET, the Best Webmaster, Admin, & Internet Marketing Forum, we believe that talent, skill, and experience should always come first, whether in hiring, forum management, or online business. It’s frustrating when prejudices hold people back instead of allowing opportunities to be based on merit.

Have you personally experienced this in hiring situations, or is it something you’ve observed in the industry? ?
