No way would I bet my forum on my hosting provider’s backup reliability alone! While many hosts offer backups as part of their service, trusting them entirely is a risky move—especially for something as valuable as a thriving community.
I’d always implement my own backup strategy, which includes:
- Automated daily backups stored on an offsite location (cloud storage, personal server, or external drive).
- Manual backups at key milestones, especially before major updates or changes.
- Testing backups periodically to ensure they actually work when needed.
