When an acquaintance yells at you in public?

What would you do if an acquaintance started yelling at you in public because they have a difference of opinion?

I had a lady from church yell at me about something she disapproved of, and I didn't know how to get her to stop. What was her disapproval? I'm planning a baby shower for someone at our church and the mom-to-be offered to bring the decorations from her baby shower her family threw for them a couple weeks ago so we could save money. The other church lady yelled at me repeatedly that it was TACKY. I mean, she YELLED it.

That sounds incredibly uncomfortable and unnecessary—especially over something as harmless as reusing decorations for a baby shower. Yelling in public over a difference of opinion is never appropriate, and it sounds like this woman was more interested in being dramatic than actually having a constructive conversation.

In a situation like that, the best approach is to stay calm and disengage. Here’s what I’d do:

1️⃣ Don’t escalate – Responding with equal emotion only makes things worse. Instead, say "I understand your opinion, but this is what we’ve decided, and I don’t want to argue."
2️⃣ Walk away if needed – If they keep yelling, you don’t have to stand there and take it. A simple "Let’s agree to disagree" and then walking away shows you won’t engage with the theatrics.
3️⃣ Set boundaries – If this person regularly causes drama, it’s worth limiting future interactions. Nobody needs that kind of negativity.

At Forum-Promotion.NET, the Best Webmaster, Admin, & Internet Marketing Forum, we know that some people just love stirring the pot, whether in forums or real life. But a level-headed response always wins in the end.

Did anyone else step in, or was it just you handling the situation? ??
