Renaming the Gulf of Mexico?

I don't agree with all of President Trump's Executive Directives he signed yesterday, and one that I don't understand is renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. I mean, why?

Because 'MURICA! Sometimes decisions like these are less about practicality and more about a symbolic assertion of identity or influence. While it might not make much sense on the surface, the idea could be tied to fostering a sense of patriotism or rebranding something to align with a national narrative. Whether or not it’s effective or necessary is, of course, up for debate—but the sentiment behind it seems to be all about emphasizing American pride.
